On Thursday 15th May 2025, Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL - Kuala Lumpur City Hall) launched the roadmap towards Zero Waste 2040 - their plan to reduce organic waste by 20%, and inorganic waste by 40% by the year 2040.

Four organisations were invited to sign a Letter of Intent which states the intention to become a strategic partner to work with DBKL towards its goal.

These 4 organisations are: Berjaya Group, Naza Group, Zero Waste Malaysia, and ReMeal.

Wan Emir Astar, Co-Founder of ReMeal states that, "At ReMeal this mission hits home. Our work is rooted in the idea that surplus food can be a solution — not a problem. We stand ready to support KL’s journey towards 20% less organic and 40% less non-organic waste by 2040. To everyone at DBKL and the partners behind this roadmap — thank you. We are proud and honoured to be a part of this journey and together, we can build a legacy for the next generation."

Falah Hamidi, Co-Founder of ReMeal adds that, "Working with the highest level of authorities will enable us to enter new verticals and maximise our impact. We will be using our expertise in tech to build innovative solutions for this fight against waste. This also sets us apart from local and international competition. Our aim since day 1 is to build a whole ecosystem - not just a food app. We are aiming to build a model that would make Malaysia proud, inspiring other countries to do the same."
