In preparation for the implementation of the MYSaveFood (MSF) 2026, an MSF Introduction Workshop was successfully conducted for local councils across Selangor on 28 January 2026, from 9.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m., at Worq Subang Jaya (Nazrin Hassan Hall).
The workshop was organised by the Selangor Climate Adaptation Centre (SCAC), with Pemuda GEMA delivering a key session, in collaboration with ReMeal. The session aimed to build early awareness and operational readiness among Selangor local councils (PBT) for the upcoming MSF 2026 rollout.
Representatives from relevant local council departments, particularly those involved in solid waste management, sustainability, and community programmes, participated in the workshop. The workshop focused on providing a clearer understanding of MSF implementation requirements, operational workflows, and coordination mechanisms at the local level.
A key component of the workshop was the introduction of a systematic, data-driven approach to surplus food management in Ramadan bazaars across Selangor. Through structured presentations and live demonstrations, participants were familiarised with the role of the ReMeal digital platform in supporting MSF operations.
The system demonstration covered core operational processes including volunteer registration, surplus food recording, coordination of food collection and redistribution, as well as impact data tracking and report generation. The use of a centralised digital platform was highlighted as a key enabler for improved coordination, transparency, and consistency across participating local councils.
Beyond system familiarisation, the workshop also served as a platform for dialogue and knowledge exchange between SCAC, Pemuda GEMA, ReMeal, and participating councils. The discussions revolved around on-the-ground implementation challenges, operational considerations, and readiness gaps ahead of MSF 2026, which highlights the importance of early planning and cross-agency coordination.
Overall, the workshop reflects the continued commitment of the Selangor State Government and its strategic partners to strengthening institutional preparedness for the MSF 2026. Early capacity-building initiatives such as this are essential to ensure that MSF 2026 is implemented in a structured, scalable, and impactful manner, delivering measurable environmental and social benefits across Selangor and Malaysia as a whole.
