Ramadan is a month of reflection, generosity, and togetherness. This year, MYSaveFood 2026 embodied those values by bringing key industry players and local communities together to ensure that surplus food from Ramadan bazaars could continue to serve a meaningful purpose beyond iftar.

Across Malaysia, MYSaveFood 2026 mobilised an incredible 2,875 volunteers who worked alongside bazaar operators, food banks, local councils, and community partners throughout the holy month. Together, they carried out food rescue efforts at 142 Ramadan bazaars across Malaysia, collecting surplus food and beverages that remained safe and suitable for consumption and redirecting them to communities in need.

Through these collective efforts, a remarkable 71,500kg of food and drinks were rescued. Rather than ending up as waste, these meals and beverages were given a second chance to nourish individuals and families, reflecting the true spirit of Ramadan. The scale of this achievement is significant. The total amount of food rescued is equivalent to the weight of approximately 71 Perodua Myvi vehicles, highlighting the tremendous impact that can be achieved when communities unite behind a common purpose.

Beyond benefitting our local communities, MYSaveFood 2026 also delivered substantial environmental benefits. By preventing edible food from being discarded, the initiative avoided approximately 136,300kg of CO₂e emissions. This environmental impact is comparable to planting 6,200 trees and allowing them to grow for an entire year! This clearly demonstrates how food rescue can play an important role in building a more sustainable future for our country.

Behind every kilogram of food rescued lies a story of generosity and dedication. It is the story of volunteers who spent their evenings, after work and classes, rescuing and redistributing surplus food that would otherwise have gone to waste. Through their commitment, these meals were able to reach individuals and families who needed them most. MYSaveFood 2026 is more than a food rescue programme. It is a movement that demonstrates how small actions, when multiplied across thousands of people, can create meaningful social and environmental change.

As the curtains close on another Ramadan season, the impact of MYSaveFood 2026 serves as a powerful reminder that reducing food waste and supporting communities go hand in hand. Together, we have shown that surplus food can become a source of nourishment, hope, and positive change.
