ReMeal have onboarded 11 Gula Cakery stores onto its platform. ReMeal is an app-based marketplace where users can find and purchase surplus food from stores at discount.

ReMeal is currently Malaysia's only food surplus marketplace app. They are a recently launched KL based startup, and are inspired by successful European based tech startup, Too Good To Go, who have been rescuing surplus food for a decade.

Gula Cakery is a home-grown F&B business that first launched in 2015 under the name Gula Bakery. From starting at its flagship store in Kota Kemuning, it has since seen immense growth year-on-year, with their 12th outlet opening in Sunway Pyramid just last week.

The Gula Cakery brand also includes many concept stores such as Gula Petite, Gula Creamery, Andra, Malaiqa, El Ocho, Arieni's Roti Jala, and MN Coffee showcasing a wide range of different cuisines.

Like many stores in the industry, preparing fresh food with short shelf lives such as cakes and pastries can result in surplus stock when not everything gets sold.

Gula Cakery already have a process in-store where they reduce prices of products nearing the end of its shelf life. ReMeal just digitalizes this concept and brings it onto an app making it easily accessible to all.

Arieni Ritzal, founder of Gula Cakery, on the new found partnership stated that "We are happy to join the fight against food waste. Our surplus food is still perfectly good, and we want to ensure these quality treats are enjoyed, whilst supporting a sustainable future."

Wan Emir Astar, Co-Founder of ReMeal, stated that "We are very honoured to be partnering with the Gula Cakery group who are a firm believer in solving surplus food. They know how tasty their delicacies are; and by being on ReMeal, they will give new customers a chance to have a taste of their range; and at a discounted price too!"
