On Friday 28th February 2025, ReMeal co-founder Wan Emir Astar was live on Astro AWANI's business programme Niaga AWANI. Wan Emir shared how ReMeal is helping F&B businesses manage their food surplus, especially during Ramadan—a time when food waste surges due to increased buffet offerings and special promotions. Many businesses face the challenge of excess food at the end of the day, with no proper solution in place, leading to unnecessary waste. This goes against the very spirit of Ramadan, which emphasizes mindfulness and moderation. ReMeal provides a platform that helps businesses efficiently manage and sell their surplus food, ensuring it doesn’t go to waste.

During the interview, Wan Emir also introduced the MYSaveFood program, a nationwide food rescue initiative that marks ReMeal’s first collaboration with Pemuda GEMA. This program focuses on rescuing surplus food from Ramadan bazaars across all states in Malaysia.

ReMeal's role this year is to provide a tech platform to digitalise the tasks in the food rescue process at bazaars. ReMeal will also make it easier to attract volunteers by integrating volunteer registration within the ReMeal app. This allows volunteers to easily sign up for food rescue efforts at their nearest bazaar, directly through the app.

A dedicated MYSaveFood tab has recently been introduced on the ReMeal app.

By integrating MYSaveFood into ReMeal platform, we aim to increase public awareness about food rescue initiatives. Existing ReMeal users can now discover which bazaars are involved and, perhaps, be inspired to join as volunteers themselves. Through this effort, we hope to foster a stronger community movement in tackling food waste while embracing the spirit of Ramadan.
